BlackBerry - Hosted BlackBerry Solution
For individuals and business that do not have access to a dedicated IT
resource, but would like to access the full range of features available on the
BlackBerry handset, the Optus Hosted BlackBerry® Email solution is
the perfect fix. Offering the security and flexibility of an Enterprise
Solution but in a package designed for the individual or small business.
A Hosted BlackBerry solution can be integrated with your Managed
Microsoft® Exchange® server. Meaning there is no need to
set up or purchase a dedicated exchange and BlackBerry server.
How to get a Hosted BlackBerry Email solution
Step 1
When you have your BlackBerry device connected to an Optus voice plan, choose a BlackBerry Enterprise plan for your BlackBerry device.

Synchronisation via your mobile device with the version of Outlook installed on
your PC is only available to customers with MAPI Access (ie. using Managed
Email Exchange $15 or $20 plans only).
^ Mac IMAP4 Users access to Public Folders is being blocked, to mitigate the
risk of a known Microsoft design feature that impacts clients that access
public folders via iMAP4. Clients that currently access public folders via IMAP
will need to utilise Outlook Web Access if continued access to these folders is
required.

How many emails are included in my plan?+
The number of emails you can send and receive will be determined by their size. As a handy guide remember that an email with 20 lines of text and no attachments is approximately 2Kb. So, 500 emails will use approximately 1MB of data.

The Termination Fee is calculated in accordance with the same calculation as for ‘yes’ Business Smart.
HOSTED BLACKBERRY® ENTERPRISE SOLUTION (BES): The Hosted BlackBerry® Enterprise Solution is only available to customers who currently have or are signing up to Optus Managed Email Exchange product. A BlackBerry® hosting fee of $15 per mailbox per month will be charged in addition to the monthly Email Hosting charge for your chosen Email Hosting plan. The full monthly charge will be incurred for whole or part of a month in which the service is operational for each Managed Exchange mailbox on which it has been activated. The calendar and meeting planner feature will not be available if you choose the $5 Email Hosting plan. You must connect to one of the BES plans and use a BlackBerry® capable device, which is a device manufactured by RIM or a mobile phone equipped with BlackBerry® Software. BlackBerry® Executive and BlackBerry® Platinum Bolt On Plans (BES): These plans may be added to an existing Optus Rate Plan or can be used as Data only plans. If you choose one of these plans and you do not have a Voice Plan for the BlackBerry® service, you will automatically be charged the BlackBerry® default Voice Rate Plan charges if you make a voice call from your BlackBerry® device.
