How it works?

The Business Mobile Broadband service sends data traffic over the radio access network and then business traffic is separated from consumer traffic and travels over the Optus Evolve IP backhaul.

The Evolve IP backhaul represents one component of the Optus dual band 3G end-to-end network and many factors affect performance such as your distance from the mobile tower, the capacity and load of the mobile tower, your hardware and software, the source of your download, and general internet traffic.

Important Information

~Two year manufactured warranty only applies to the HP 5102 Netbook

1. Maximum theoretical download speed on the 3G/HSPA (900/2100MHz) network is up to 3.6Mbps and in selected areas up to 7.6Mbps, see www.optus.com.au/coverage for more details. You can expect speeds between 512Kbps and 1.5Mbps. Actual speeds will vary and may be slower. Many factors affect speeds such as your distance from the mobile tower, the capacity and load of the mobile tower, which bearer you are currently using, your hardware and software, the source of your download, and general internet traffic.

2. 2 year manufacturers warranty only applies to HP 5102 Netbook and DVD drive

3. Web acceleration is not available for non-HTTP content (such as VPNs and HTTPS websites). Web acceleration is available for HTTP web pages popularly viewed by Business Mobile Broadband customers

4. Excess usage charged at $0.15 per MB or part thereof applies if you exceed your monthly data allowance. Usage counted in KBs (1MB=1024KB) and includes uploads and downloads. International roaming usage is not included in your data limit, additional charges apply.

Terms & Conditions

General: The Optus Business Mobile Broadband service is supplied in accordance with the terms of the Optus Wireless Broadband Standard Form of Agreement. You must comply with these terms including our Acceptable Use Policy when using the service.

Eligibility: All applications for the service are subject to Optus credit assessment, and acceptance. The service is only available to customers within the Optus Dual Band (2100/900 MHz) coverage areas and is subject to network availability, refer to www.optus.com.au/coverage. For technical and commercial reasons not all locations can receive Optus services and it is not available in NT or TAS. The service is only available for use with an Optus supplied SIM card and Optus supplied or Optus approved BYO wireless data device.If you choose to use your own wireless data device (BYO) to access the service, the operation of the device, and any repairs to it, is your responsibility. You should not use the supplied SIM to access (and may not be able to access) other services such as Voice calls, International voice calls, Voice Mail, International SMS, premium and Third Party SMS, MMS, International MMS, 1300, 1900. If you are able to access such services, your use of such services will be charged at prevailing rates.

HP ODD (DVD Drive): Available for $168 upfront on the Biz Mobile Netbook 2GB plan or $0 upfront when you connect to Biz Mobile Netbook 5GB or 8GB plan over 24 months. $168 or $0 charge will appear as an accessory charge on your first bill. Offer cannot be redeemable for cash and is not to be used in conjunction with any other offer. 1 year manufactures warranty applies to the HP ODD. Limited stock. No rainchecks.

Data Usage Allowance: Data usage will be counted in kilobytes, where 1024kb = 1MB and includes both uploads and downloads. Your pricing plan may set out a maximum amount of included data that you can use to download and upload at high speed in a billing month. 24 Month Plans - If you exceed your plan’s included monthly data allowance, additional excess usage will be charged at an additional 15c per MB or part thereof. Any unused data allowance cannot be rolled over.

Use of the Service: If the supplied SIM card is used in an alternate device (such as a different Optus Wireless Device or in an Optus mobile phone) then such usage will count towards your plan’s data allowance. Optus Business Mobile Broadband plans may only be used as a data plan.

24 Month Plan Cancellation Fees: If you cancel your service before the end of the agreed contract term you may incur a cancellation fee as follows: If you are connected on a Biz Mobile Netbook plan on a 24 month contract and the service is cancelled: 0-12 months fixed cancellation fee of $999 for Biz Mobile Netbook 2GB plan or $1150 for Biz Mobile Netbook 5GB or 8GB plans, 13-15 80%, 16-18 60%, 19-21 40% and 22-24 20% of the cancellation fee plus any remaining device repayments, if applicable. Speed: Many factors affect speeds such as your distance from the mobile tower, the capacity and load of the mobile tower, which bearer you are currently using (GSM, 3G/HSPA), your hardware and software, the source of your download, and general internet traffic. The service is subject to network availability. Broadband speeds not available in GSM-only coverage areas. Refer to www.optus.com.au/coverage for coverage and speed information.

'yes' Coverage Commitment: The 'yes' Coverage Commitment applies for a period of 7 days from date of activation. Faulty devices are not covered by this YCC. Cancellation fees apply outside the 7 day YCC period.
