First you need to install your SIM card into your iPhone. You will need to use the small metal pin provided in the box, and use it to push in the small hole located at the top of the iPhone to reveal the SIM card tray.

Place the SIM card in the tray and push it back to the iPhone. Once you do that, turn on the iPhone by pressing the button on the top near the SIM card slot. You will now see something like the below on the screen.

Now you will need to download and install the latest version of iTunes from Apple. You can download it here.

Activate the iPhone

Now that you’ve done the above it’s now time to activate your iPhone.

Connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB cable provided in the box. Once its connected to your PC, it would detect the iPhone is connected and automatically start iTunes.

Once iTunes starts it would detect the carrier settings of your iPhone 3G and prompt you to download the latest one.

Just click on “Download and Update”.

The process of updating your carrier settings is quick, so once it’s finished just click “OK”.

You will now see on the screen of your iPhone that it has been successfully activated and is ready to use. You can now continue regestering your iPhone through iTunes to be able to receive the latest software for your iPhone or you can do that at a later stage.
